This Plush-top mattress and box spring set should not be confused with our Ambassador Pillowtop. The two share the same plush outer fabric and quilting, but the similarity stops there. The Ambassador Plushtop has the same very stout springs inside as the Ortho. This is a bed for those who want a very firm support level inside and a soft comfort layer of quilting at the surface. The spring unit is the Leggett & Platt 364 coil, 12.75 gauge with steel edge supports added around the perimeter of the mattress. This is the thickest spring steel on the market. The inner upholstery is the same as the Ortho, too. The spring is topped with a firm polyfiber insulator pad. On top of this goes an inch of firm grade foam. And our Beautiful Belgian Damask fabric is quilted with luxurious mirabond fiber and 1.5" of high-density super soft foam.
Under the mattress, we put foundation made with poplar hardwood for the firmest support possible.
