This is a true “Orthopedic” mattress and box spring set, by any definition. The mattress features a super firm 364 coil, 12.75 gauge Bonnell spring unit. It's the thickest steel on the market for a mattress innerspring. This is a very firm rated mattress innerspring – built to hold its shape and not sag for a long, long time. For heavier customers in particular, this is our best spring unit. Steel edge supports are added around the outside of the spring to give you a firmer seat edge. They help the mattress feel level if you sleep close to the edge. For upholstery, we insulate this spring with a firm style bonded pad. We add a lumbar support to the center third of the spring unit. The lumbar support also helps the center of the mattress last longer. The main part of the upholstery is a 2” layer of firm therapeutic convoluted foam. The cover is quilted to another 1" layer of firm foam. The beautiful gold/taupe damask cover is made of cotton and polyester.
Under the mattress, we put foundation made with poplar hardwood for the firmest support possible.
