True to tradition, at Elite we use a 5.5" thick pure latex foam core when we make a latex mattress. When you walk into most mattress stores and look at their “latex” mattress, you'll find something that has latex in it, but wouldn't qualify for a latex mattress by most peoples' definition. If there's 1" latex on the top of an 8" foam core, 1" latex on the bottom and 6" of much cheaper urethane foam in the middle, is it really a latex mattress?

Mattress makers realized long ago that their product is a blind purchase. So for those with less integrity, they take the attitude, “what the customer doesn't know, won't hurt them”. But when someone is told the mattress is latex, the assumption is they're getting a pure latex core. In today's marketplace, the majority of mattresses that are sold as latex actually consist mostly of urethane foam.

If you choose the Royal latex from Elite, you'll get a solid latex core mattress. It'll be heavy, have a heavenly latex feel and stay that way longer than any other kind of mattress we make. Why does latex last so long? Well, it's made of rubber. Just like they use to make tires. Latex doesn't fail until it gets old enough to dry up and crumble. For most people, that's between 15 & 20 years. A quality steel innerspring, on the other hand, typically stresses out and shows a significant body depression at about the 10 year mark.
